The feminine divine is expressed as the goddess archetype in mythologies, cultures, and religions dating back to the lower Paleolithic era (2,500,000 B.C.E. to 120,000 B.C.E.) Carl Jung described the goddess as “not a symbol of something; she is something; she is life.” This archetype represents creation itself, the giver of life, a vessel from which all existence flows. As humanity emerges through the force of creative energy, the feminine divine is immanently woven into the essence of every being.

Once exalted, the goddess and feminine archetype were later suppressed. In recent decades, the rebirth of the goddess has revived the exploration and understanding of the feminine divine as an intrinsic part of the human experience.
